eye

67th street transverse, central park, nyc, fall 2003

Here I look at voice, which is always a box, as we would find a jury in - and so judgment. "eye" was made crossing Central Park along the path traversing the 60's - thus the skating rink. It's related to the body as a voice, what calls out to and from us, with location a continual concern, though what we find in the voice defies location (even as we may take it apart to find ourselves in its midst).

The "horizon" here refers to the funerary service of Scyld ("shield") at the start of Beowulf, switching "mind" for "body," as they may be indistinguished: Or keeping in mind the saying: "All I perceive is my body" (Democritus).
